Meet Our Team
Hello,
My name is Debbie Stiles. I run an organization interested in helping give a hand up to men, women, and families in Sequoyah County. My desire has long been to be part of a soup kitchen or other means of helping those less fortunate. Then one day because of a change in my life, I became one of those less fortunate and was homeless with no income or any sort of hope. I was allowed to stay in a house of a family members on a temp base. The first night I was there, I received a call from an officer who knew my dream of opening a place to help others. He asked to bring someone in and I accepted. From that encounter, a shelter was started. I started with no idea how I would pay for rent or utilities. I had no income. I had a small Geo Tracker. a puppy, and faith. That faith kept the shelter going with no definite idea where the rent, utilities, or fuel would come from. People just kept coming, and the building got more and more crowded. I asked God to only send me to pick up the ones he wanted me to have. Many times, I would arrive somewhere and have no one there, and I knew God had gone before me. With no income to depend on I could have given up many times, but I didn't because somehow it worked. Many times, that little Geo would be packed with people and it would run out of gas, and yet within 5 minutes someone would come along with a gas can and get us on the road again. I never knew the people, but God did. Sometimes when it was spitting and sputtering we would feel the air lift us up and we would arrive home totally out of gas. The one thing every one of the "guests" remember is that “Angel Power” kept me going. In three years, we had over 270 people through the door and all with no valid income. God provided for me, God provided for them, and He can help you too. |
